Crown Without A King by rawimage Crown Without A King by rawimage
EDIT: AUG 31st 2008, I had to watermark it since I found it all over the web without my permission :[

It was a pretty hard task to get these images (nope, just showing off a little), since my equipment is REEEEALLY ... low-tech. But hey: Necessity is the mother of invention, isn't it? Enough said - enjoy!

Things involved: milk, water, a big jar, Canon Powershot A95 + macro converter lens, 2x 500 W halogen lamps, black board and PS of course

milk was dripped into water with a pipette. while the milk was decending in the water, a series of shots were taken. The background is darkened with a piece of simple black board.

Related Work: Evolving Convection

Here's a little ANIMATED GIF showing the photo series I did

wowowowowow....hey man. I was just wondering if I could use this for a book Im goiing to submit to Inkpop.com. Ill give you full credits. Or maybe--even better. If you wouldn't mind, it would nice for you to make a picture about a crown like this one. The concept is this:

A prince: he looks like he is around sixteen. good-boy sorta look. and a crown. the title of the book is the Forgotten Prince.

:0 tnxs (btw, if u dun wanna it is totally fine with me, at least i gotta apreaciate ur art :) )

i still can't believe that this is milk in water. i watched the gif and i'm amazed that it turned out this way. I really think you were innovative in this project. I actually appreciate that it's not photoshopped at all because it's hard to find images like this that aren't. (not saying photoshop it bad)

You're a true artist. Kudos my friend!!!

Thank you very much. I wouldn't say photoshopped at all, though. I stamped out some distracting parts in the background.

I use this photo as my Facebook photo but I definitely don't take credit for the image. I'll gladly take it down if you feel it's infringing upon your copyright. What if I gave you credit in the caption and posted the link to this page?

Very cool. I appreciate your description of what was involved in getting this photo. I did, however, figure out that the image was flipped without looking at the comments. I'm sure it was alot of work to get a final product as cool as this.

Wow, excellent job. why, you DID get a crown! That object in the middle looks pretty similiar to mine. I believe mine also was an offspring of the mainstream...
Your setup is much much much better than mine. Great idea with that flashlight from below!

it's ok if people do the milk thing. it's not okay if people download the image and upload it somewhere else and try to make money.
